What it automates
Advantage+ features remove manual levers in exchange for machine optimization. Advantage+ audience treats your targeting as a suggestion and looks beyond it; Advantage+ placements spreads delivery across all surfaces; Advantage+ sales campaigns automate most of the setup for conversion goals. The trade is control for reach and speed. Only locations, minimum age, languages and custom-audience exclusions stay hard limits; the rest is in suggestions vs controls.
When it is the right call
Automation works best with clean conversion signal and enough volume to learn from. With a strong pixel and Conversions API feeding it, Advantage+ often beats hand-built targeting. On thin data or a niche audience, the freedom to roam can waste budget, so it is not a default for every account. Multi-advertiser ads are another default worth checking: turn off Meta multi-advertiser ads.
Common questions
Is Advantage+ better than manual campaigns?
It depends on your data. With strong conversion signal and volume, Advantage+ often outperforms manual targeting. On low volume or a narrow niche, manual control can protect budget. Test it against your current setup rather than assuming.
Does Advantage+ audience ignore my targeting?
It treats your audience inputs as a signal, not a hard limit, and can deliver beyond them. If you need strict audience control, that is a reason to be cautious with it.
